So 3ish months of work has been completed..
I feel that this project was very successful, and that it was nice to have so much more time to explore other musical interests, besides practicing the concert music. I probably would have attempted at some composing anyways, but in no way as elaborate and long as through the Google project. Since my project had morphed so much since I first started, I also learned a bit more about transposing in general and various ways to put together music - the beginning of my project was a nice introduction to the final effort, actually.
I recorded an mp3 of my piano piece a few days ago, but I have no idea how to post it, so maybe I'll attempt to put it on Youtube and link it...? Or post a final draft of the sheet music?

12.13.2011: Done?
Last Saturday I brought the copy of my variations to my piano class and asked my piano teacher to listen and give advice. So the piece is now about 2 minutes shorter than it originally was... but that's ok, because the parts I cut out were pretty bad anyways.
Too lazy to rewrite the score for the new version. Maybe I should...

10.31.2011- Fourth Variation
You know, when you think about it, my Google project hasn't changed all that much.
I went from "pianifying" random songs to putting them together in an arrangement to arranging Jingle Bells. So, technically, I'm still "pianifying" a song and compiling an arrangement. Just saying.
So since I had no real inspiration to compose, only half of the fourth variation was completed today. Considering the severe shortage of pianos and keyboards available to everyone in need of one and that I did manage to rehearse the composed majority of the piece, I think this is a commendable accomplishment.
On another subject, there really are a lot of ways you can twist Jingle Bells.
Happy Halloween!

10.30.2011- Rethinking... again...
So I was sitting at my piano playing random notes because I had gotten bored of rehearsing Chopin's Etude in A Flat (no surprise there). A few notes later, maybe because the weather was typically dismal and I was wearing my red shirt with a Christmas tree design, I realized that what I was playing sounded faintly like Jingle Bells.
So this is how this second rethinking came about: Variations on Jingle Bells.
In sort of an obsessive fervor (and ignoring the many pages of APUSH notes still to do), I spent about seven hours composing various versions of Jingle Bells, to be compiled in a single piece. The result: three variations on Jingle Bells, and an opening and end to the compilation.
This time, I'm fairly sure I'm sticking to this idea.

10.19.2011- Rethinking...
Transcribed the piano intro of another song. The actual length of the section is about ten seconds, but it took me half an hour to get it written down =_= The left hand chords are a lot harder to discern than I expected..
Perhaps it'd be a better idea for me to collect little sections of songs into a longer general piece..? So far, I could include bits and pieces of "On the Street," "Hello," "After Love," "100 Years," "A Whole New World," "It's You," (possibly) "Falling Slowly"... and probably more.
Most will need to be transposed to the same key or so that all the pieces fit... and if I credit the original owner, I think I should be able to use piano songs not written by me...?
Aah lots of planning to do >_<

10.05.2011- On The Street
Se7en has officially been placed on an infinitely long hiatus. For now.
On the other hand, most of "On the Street" has been transcribed into piano-score. Up to the first half of the chorus is finished - and obviously, I lack the motivation to complete the entire song.
Change of plans. Sections of songs will be transposed to piano, and put together has a collage (maybe?). Variety, not quantity. That makes sense.
New, updated list of songs:
•"Nothing"- The Script
•"For the First Time"- The Script
•"September"- Daughtry
•"Crash and Burn"- Lifehouse
•"Breathless"- Shayne Ward
•"Love Ya"- SS501
•"Stay"- MBLAQ

09.19.2011- Project Start!
Hello!
Basically, this project is to transpose and play some of my favorite songs (as in, people singing) on the piano.
Obviously, this is not a creative project. But forget all the Lady GaGa and etc etc piano covers on Youtube. Most likely, most of this project will be spent on some obscure ballad or whatever Kpop song is currently on repeat on my iPod.
#1: "I'm Going Crazy" - Se7en
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5nEUWiCXPs
Other goals:
--"On the Street" - Sung Si Kyung
--"Roses" - Claude Kelly
--to be determined...?
Hopefully, I'll be able to cover at least two.
Ciao!
